Position Summary

The Data Platform Product Manager owns the roadmap and backlog for RPM Living's enterprise data platform, translating business and analytics needs from stakeholders across Operations, Finance, and Marketing into clear requirements for the Data Engineering and Architecture teams. This role sits at the intersection of product management and data platform delivery, working within the Product & Engineering division to prioritize platform capabilities, coordinate release planning, and ensure the enterprise data platform continues to deliver measurable business value.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the data platform product roadmap and backlog, prioritizing features, integrations, and technical debt in partnership with Data Engineering and Architecture leads.
• Partner with the Sr. Director of Product Management to align the data platform roadmap with the broader Product & Engineering strategy and RPM Living's business priorities.
• Gather, document, and prioritize requirements from business stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Marketing, and other departments, translating ad-hoc requests into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release coordination for platform initiatives, working closely with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and QA to ensure on-time delivery.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical data team, managing expectations, communicating timelines, and escalating risks or blockers as needed.
• Define and track success metrics and KPIs for platform initiatives, including adoption, data quality, and delivery velocity.
• Use data insights, stakeholder feedback, and team input to inform day-to-day product decisions and ensure solutions address real business problems.
• Maintain and prioritize platform-related support requests, triaging incoming issues and coordinating resolution with the appropriate technical owner.
• Support integration and reporting initiatives across core systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, UKG, Salesforce) by capturing business requirements and validating delivered functionality.
• Facilitate stakeholder demos, training sessions, and documentation to drive adoption of new platform capabilities and reporting tools.
• Leverage AI tools such as Claude to accelerate requirements documentation, backlog refinement, and stakeholder communication.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Three years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a related role, ideally supporting a data or analytics platform.
• Experience working with cross-functional technical teams (data engineering, architecture, or software development) in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Experience with backlog management and collaboration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, ZenDesk) preferred.
• Multifamily or property management industry experience is a plus but not required.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum product delivery practices, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.
• Knowledge of data platform concepts such as data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI/reporting tools; direct experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Power BI is a plus.
• Skilled in organization and prioritization, with the ability to manage multiple competing stakeholder requests simultaneously.
• Skilled in analysis with the ability to define and interpret metrics that measure platform adoption and business impact.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with both business and technical teams using a collaborative, consultative approach.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
