Position Summary

The Cloud & Automation Systems Engineer will expand internal engineering capability across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, and endpoint management. This role is designed to be a “force multiplier” for the IT Support Services team, building automation, strengthening security controls, improving governance, and reducing reliance on external engineering resources for high-impact initiatives and escalations.

Responsibilities

Azure Engineering, Automation & Scripting
• Design, deploy, and support automation and integration solutions using Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and security.
• Build, maintain, and optimize automation solutions using PowerShell (and Python where helpful) to automate provisioning, configuration, compliance checks, and operational workflows.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Security stakeholders to create reusable modules, standard patterns, and documentation to reduce single points of failure and enable team scale.
• Implement governance, monitoring, and operational best practices across Azure services and Microsoft cloud platforms.
• Build and support integrations between SaaS platforms and Microsoft services using APIs, including secure authentication, logging, and failure-handling patterns.
Microsoft 365 Administration
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services in production environments, including (as applicable) Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and core tenant governance.
• Support escalations and root-cause analysis for complex Microsoft 365 issues; drive permanent fixes rather than recurring ticket cycles.
SharePoint Online
• Support and enhance SharePoint Online administration, including site provisioning workflows and automation (including logic app automation).
• Build and maintain SharePoint structures (sites, libraries, permissions models) and automate lifecycle activities where appropriate.
• Develop solutions leveraging Microsoft Graph/Power Automate where appropriate to improve operational scale and end-user outcomes.
Identity & Access (Entra ID + Okta)
• Configure and support Entra ID (Azure AD) identity services, including identity governance patterns and secure access configuration.
• Support Okta administration and lifecycle management efforts, including MFA strategies and operational best practices.
Documentation & Operational Excellence
• Produce clear technical documentation for automation, configurations, and standard operating procedures; ensure solutions are supportable by the broader team.
• Participate in operational improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, and scalability.

Education and Experience

• Skilled in administering Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online environments.
• Ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable cloud solutions.
• Ability to automate manual processes and develop reusable operational workflows.
• Skilled in designing and implementing automation using Azure Logic Apps, Functions, and Power Automate.
• Skilled in scripting with PowerShell (and Python) for provisioning and operational processes.
• Knowledge of APIs, authentication methods, and integration solutions.
• Knowledge of techniques for troubleshooting complex cloud and SaaS issues and performing root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of identity and access management concepts, including Entra ID (Azure AD) and Okta.
• Ability to collaborate with infrastructure, security, and vendor teams.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. Experience may substitute for education.
• Four years in cloud engineering, systems engineering, automation engineering, or similar roles.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
