Position Summary

The Property Accounting Associate will be responsible for providing accounting administrative support for a portfolio of properties which may include projects such as bank account reconciliations, report package assembly, etc. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform bank account reconciliations regularly throughout the financial period to maintain an accurate daily cash balance
  • Assist the Property Accounting team in compiling monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls
  • Assist the Property Accounting team in preparing financial packages for multiple clients with different reporting requirements
  • Assist the Property Accounting team in reviewing the appropriate reporting and recording journal entries to maintain income and revenue in industry specific software
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with Property Accountants and above in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks
  • Utilize systems/tools to complete work in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College coursework completed in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits and credits, journal entries, and the accounting equation
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, including maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, and managing financial records
  • Knowledge of Industry Specific Software such as Yardi
  • Skilled in organization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities efficiently
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with a high proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to spot discrepancies and errors in financial records
  • Ability to accurately enter and manage financial data in accounting systems and spreadsheets
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks
  • Ability to utilize systems/tools to complete work in a timely manner

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
