Position Summary

Position Summary: The Director of Property Accounting is responsible for the management and oversight of the property accounting team. This position will also take a leading role in department initiatives that will include cross collaboration with other Directors and departments. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong project and change management skills. They will be ambitious, energetic, passionate, persistent, self-motivated and determined. They must possess a strong ability to prioritize, be well-organized, capable of multitasking and assume responsibilities and duties to lead and influence a team of professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and directing the accounting function, which includes all financial reporting, cash management, auditing, and cost control systems for an assigned area of responsibility
  • Supervise a team of Controllers that will include indirect reports of Accountants, Managers, support staff & oversee recruiting efforts for the team
  • Ensure financial integrity of properties assigned to the team
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Drive team performance and develop talent for succession planning
  • Participate in the execution of strategic initiatives such as Training & Leadership Development, Transitions, Reporting, Information Technology, Policies and Procedures, etc
  • Participate in business development pitches as needed
  • Assist with internal control decisions, development, and implementation
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience; Advanced degree or CPA, CMA a plus
  • 8+ Years of Property Management Experience or equivalent
  • 5+ Year of Hands On Managerial Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Industry Specific Software: Yardi, RealPage/Onesite, Entrata

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week.
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions.
