The position: Under attorney supervision, the Paralegal is responsible for supporting all functions of the in-house legal department, including contracts and contracts lifecycle management, corporate governance, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new legal concepts, tools, and processes. This role requires someone who takes initiative, can manage projects independently, and collaborates effectively across teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and revise a variety of contracts and legal documents, including property management agreements, non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, amendments, and assignments.
  • Manage the contract lifecycle process, including tracking, coordinating, and following contracts from intake to execution.
  • Work cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders and business units to advance transactions and resolve legal matters.
  • Support corporate governance, including the preparation and management of organizational documents, resolutions, and general entity upkeep.
  • Provide litigation support, including managing discovery and e-discovery; coordinating with outside counsel; assisting with subpoenas, document holds, and internal investigations; and tracking litigation deadlines and case statuses.
  • Help manage legal budgets, including reviewing and tracking outside counsel invoices.
  • Provide both substantive and administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer, including gathering legal information, conducting research, and preparing summaries and reports.
  • Contribute to special projects and legal initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably with an in-house legal team or at a large regional or national law firm.
  • Significant experience with contracts and litigation, preferably civil or commercial litigation.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign. Experience with a contract lifecycle management platform is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • In office, hybrid role preferred but will consider remote options as well 
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
