The Position: The Associate Corporate Counsel, under supervision of the Corporate Counsel, will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiation contracts and other legal documents and providing legal analysis and advice on a broad variety of commercial agreements. Secondarily, as needed, assist in various legal matters, including general corporate matters. Applicant must be familiar with contract language and structure and possess prior experience with commercial contracting. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to distill complex issues clearly and communicate in a clear and concise manner are prerequisites of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare contracts and other legal documents, including property management agreements
  • Review and abstract contracts provided by clients
  • Maintain liaison and direct communication with the Business Development, Risk, HR, and other departments
  • Track, follow and coordinate review and execution of contracts
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard forms of agreement and legal processes
  • Provide assistance to Corporate Counsel in gathering information, researching the law, and summarizing legal information
  • Manage high volume requests and tasks 
  • Collaboration between stakeholders and other members of the legal team to achieve optimal results
  • Counsels’ business and corporate services operations on regulatory matters associated with contracts
  • Engages in issue spotting, risk assessment, and problem solving on a daily basis
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience as external counsel or in-house attorney, admitted to the bar and in good standing to practice law in Texas
  • Microsoft Office Suite and editing software, Adobe, DocuSign
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Salesforce experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

  • This is an in office role, requiring the associate to work in our corporate or regional offices 5 days per week
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
